Department of Basic Sciences
Department Overview
The Department of Basic Sciences was established in the academic year 2024–2025 as an independent and supporting academic department within the Faculty of Science at Tafila Technical University. It plays a pivotal role in supporting various academic programs within the faculty as well as other science- and application-oriented faculties. The department is responsible for delivering foundational science courses, thereby contributing to building a solid knowledge base for students and enhancing the integration of the educational process across scientific, engineering, and medical disciplines.
The department works to equip students with fundamental scientific concepts, as well as analytical and practical skills necessary for understanding various specializations, with a focus on linking theoretical knowledge with practical applications through well-equipped teaching laboratories that serve core courses. The areas of academic support provided by the department include chemistry, applied physics, mathematics and its various branches, in addition to the use of modern technologies and computer applications in teaching basic sciences.
The Department of Basic Sciences comprises a qualified academic staff with diverse teaching and research expertise, contributing to the provision of a supportive learning environment that encourages scientific thinking, problem-solving skills, and teamwork, which positively reflects on student learning outcomes across the academic programs served by the department.

The Department of Basic Sciences seeks to support the educational process in the Faculty of Science and other faculties by providing high-quality education in basic sciences, aimed at consolidating scientific concepts, developing students’ analytical and practical skills, and preparing them to meet the requirements of various academic disciplines and the labor market.
