The College of Science was established in 2005 in conjunction with the founding of Tafila Technical University, as part of the University’s commitment to advancing scientific and technological programs and reinforcing its vital role in keeping pace with rapid global developments. This is achieved through the preparation and qualification of competent scientific cadres capable of meeting both educational and research demands. The College currently comprises four academic departments: the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, the Department of Applied Physics, the Department of Mathematics, and the Department of Applied Biological Sciences.

The College offers a diverse range of academic programs. The undergraduate program spans four years and leads to a Bachelor’s degree in seven specializations: Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Applied Physics, Medical Physics, Mathematics, Applied Statistics, and Applied Biological Sciences. In addition, the College offers Master’s degrees in Chemical Technology, Applied Physics, and Applied Mathematics. Efforts are also underway to establish an integrated undergraduate program in Applied Biological Sciences, in accordance with national and international accreditation standards.

The College provides a modern and supportive educational and research environment, equipped with advanced laboratories that enable both undergraduate and graduate students to apply and expand their academic knowledge while developing their research skills. It also supports faculty members in conducting advanced research across various scientific and technological fields. Furthermore, the College places continuous emphasis on graduate studies and actively promotes high-quality research. It supports the publication of applied research in internationally refereed and indexed journals and encourages participation in conferences, workshops, and seminars at local, regional, and international levels, thereby contributing to the fulfillment of the University’s vision and mission of fostering a distinguished educational and research environment that effectively serves and advances the community.
