The Division is responsible for the daily supervision and proactive maintenance of the main network and its distributed switches across all University buildings, ensuring network stability and minimizing interruptions or technical faults. It continuously develops and updates both wired and wireless networks, expanding coverage to provide secure and reliable connectivity that enables faculty, administrative staff, and students to access digital systems and services seamlessly. In addition, the Division closely monitors cybersecurity measures, including the primary firewall and secondary McAfee Web Gateway, implementing advanced security policies to safeguard data and maintain the integrity of the University’s digital infrastructure.
Supporting the University’s expansion and modernization, the Division has prepared comprehensive technical specifications for wired and wireless networks in newly established buildings, and has implemented network connections and internet services for the College of Business, the Engineering Workshops building, and the Sports Hall, ensuring full integration with the University’s digital ecosystem. It also oversees the maintenance of edge switches, the procurement, installation, and operation of integrated network devices, preparation of desktop computer specifications, and routine maintenance of equipment and devices associated with the campus network.
Furthermore, the Division manages the operation of electronic gates and surveillance cameras, including the necessary network setup, and oversees the integration of the e-Fawateercom payment system, the Horizon project, and electronic linkage with the General Customs Department within the University’s internal network. It provides video-conferencing services, monitors electronic surveillance systems, and facilitates electronic network maintenance requests to ensure prompt response and issue resolution. Wireless connectivity is made available in lecture halls and student gathering areas, alongside internet services for staff housing. Collectively, these efforts reflect the Division’s commitment to providing a secure, reliable, and sustainable technological environment that supports the University’s academic and administrative functions at the highest standards.
