Overview

The Department of Arabic Language and Literature at the College of Arts, Tafila Technical University, was established in 2006. The first cohort of Bachelor’s degree graduates completed their studies in 2009. The Department is supported by a specialized academic staff dedicated to teaching the various fields of Arabic language and literature, including literature, criticism, grammar, morphology, and linguistics, in accordance with modern academic approaches. Faculty members actively participate in local and international conferences and academic events, and contribute to the examination of postgraduate theses, thereby strengthening the Department’s academic and research presence. The Department also aspires to expand its academic offerings by introducing a graduate program in literature and criticism, in response to student demand and ongoing academic development.

Program Overview
The Bachelor’s degree in Arabic Language and Literature focuses on the study of the Arabic language in its linguistic, literary, and critical dimensions, including grammar, morphology, rhetoric, and both classical and modern Arabic literature. The program aims to develop students’ abilities in literary appreciation, linguistic analysis, and accurate written and oral expression. It also enables students to understand the richness of the Arab cultural and intellectual heritage and its literary evolution. Furthermore, the program prepares qualified graduates capable of serving the Arabic language in education, media, and research fields.

  • Major Requirements: Grammar, morphology, rhetoric, pre-Islamic literature, Abbasid literature, modern literature, literary criticism, linguistics.
