The program of CIS was established at the beginning of the academic year 2007/2008 as part of the Mathematics and Computer Science department. Because of the gradually increasing number of students and faculty members in the department, the Higher Education Council separated the discipline of computer and information technology and the discipline of mathematics into two independent departments during the academic year 2014/2015. Currently, the department of Computer and Information Technology offers BS.C degree in computer information technology (CIS). In addition, the Computer and Information Technology Department serves the university and the local community in terms of consultation and training.
Today, Computer and Information Technology Department has (17) faculty members; (6) of them are PhD faculty members, while the rest are with master degrees. In addition, the department has seven computer laboratories.
Equipping students with the needed skills in computer and information technology is the philosophy of our department.
