Tafila Technical University won the fourth place in the second Mathematics Olympiad organized by Zarqa University yesterday. The competition witnessed the participation of Zarqa University, Hashemite University, University of Jordan, Ajloun National University, Al Al-Bayt University, Irbid University, Balqa University-Ajloun, Yarmouk University and Jadra University.
Tafila Technical University team, consisting of Malik Seder, Saeed Al-Khalili, Saeed Al-Natour, Suhaib Al-Rifaou and Ibrahim Al-Attiwi, competed against five other teams that qualified to the final stage.
Dr. Osama Al-Adaily said that the topics of the competition included calculus, mathematical analysis, mathematical statistics, algebra, differential equations, geometry, riddles and mathematical puzzles.
Dr. Ezzat Al-Qarala stressed that the competition is a good opportunity to discover distinguished students, stimulate their creativity, enhance communication among mathematics students in all Jordanian universities and develop their thinking skills.
Tafila University has won the second place in the first Mathematics Olympiad held at Al-Hussein Bin Talal University last year.
