Department of English Language and Literature


The Department of English Language and Literature was first founded as part of the College of Education following the establishment of Tafila Technical University in 2005. Created for those pursuing a wide range of studies in the discipline, it provided its students, who are currently about 327, with instruction in English language, British and American literatures, comparative literature, linguistics and translation as well as the critical theory. The Department has a teaching staff of 15 members . The Cultural Day is a major annual activity of the Department. The Department held its First International Conference in 2007, and among its other future goals and plans is sending sponsored graduate students to leading US and UK universities to earn their Ph.D. degrees in different disciplines of English as a major field of study.
